On Friday 21st April 2017, Jakarta World Academy celebrated Kartini Day. All the students from Nursery to Kindergarten 2 made arts and craft ornaments, that were displayed around the school as decoration in connection with this event.
During the celebration, the students came to school wearing their Indonesian traditional costumes while the teachers and administration staff wore Batik or Kebaya. The first part of the Kartini Day Celebration was a fashion show. All of the students did a great job as they showed their traditional costume in front of an audience confidently. It was then followed by the students performance where by the student showcased their talents through variety of Indonesian songs and dances. The Nursery performed a dance called “Potong Bebek Angsa”, the PreK sang and danced “Kembali Ke Sekolah”, and the Kindergarten 1 danced to the tune of “Ampar-Ampar Pisang”. As for the Kindergarten 2 students, they performed a mini drama about Ibu Kartini’s life as a pioneer in the emancipation of Indonesian women.
The Kindergarten2 students also sang ‘Ibu Kita Kartini’ as they played “Angklung,” one of the Indonesian traditional musical instruments. They were then joined in by all the students from Nursery to Kindergarten1.
For the finale performance, all the students sang “1 2 3 4 Bangun Pagi” song. We are very proud of all our students at JWA as they performed really well and displayed their growing sense of confidence. Parents, teachers, and all the students enjoyed this wonderful celebration.
