Hands down, this is one of the best days in the school year. Watching our students’ faces as they share their learning with their parents, lead them through an activity and share what they love most about school, is so rewarding and inspiring.
There is a lot of learning involved in preparing for the conferences – deciding how the room should be set up, what they want to teach their parents and how, reflecting on their work and reviewing their portfolios, practicing with a buddy – and the students take it very seriously as it is so important to them to do their best for their parents.
We would like to thank you, JWA parents, for being so supportive of your children’s efforts and validating their growth. I was fortunate enough to witness one student teaching her mom how to play the xylophone, another one teaching her parents how to glue ribbon, and another one preparing for a game of bingo in Chinese. The one thing most evident to me was how much our students enjoyed it and how proud they felt of themselves.
If anyone did not get a chance to fill out the parent feedback form after their conference, please do so here.
We hope you all have a wonderful holiday and will see you April 1!
