The world celebrated the United Nations day last October 24 to honour the interstate organization promoting human rights, social progress, and world peace. For a week, the students prepared for their performances and also learnt about the culture and tradition of the continent they were representing. They had arts and crafts and cooking activities as they learnt about the different continents.
Jakarta World Academy celebrated the event with a theme: “It’s A Small World”. The JWA students came to school wearing their colourful costumes. They were all excited to perform in front of their family and friends. Each grade level represented a continent and performed a dance that originated from each continent. It was nice to see them perform delightfully on stage.
In line with the celebration of the UN Day, a bazaar was held after the programme. The Nursery to K2 students turned their respective classrooms into different booths like game booth, souvenir shop and mini-restaurant. The crafts and food prepared by the students were sold to their parents and friends. Everyone had a great time visiting each booth and the students enjoyed selling souvenir items and serving their family and friends in the K1-K2 “mini restaurant.” Each class gained more than what is expected and the proceeds of this activity will be donated to UNICEF.
Cheers to the students, parents, teachers and staff who made all this possible. It was indeed an enriching and memorable experience for all.
